After evaluating the safety systems in the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has deemed the well-equipped compact SUV a Top Safety Pick+. This is the agency’s highest rating and places the Tucson in good company — the 2021 Palisade and 2021 NEXO are TSP+ winners, too.

The 2022 Tucson performed well in the IIHS’s range of six crash tests and earned praise for its LED headlights and SmartSense crash prevention tech. Standard technologies in the driver-assist suite include:
