Hyundai IONIQ 5 Wins Big at TopGear Electric Awards | Harlingen, TX
The all-new IONIQ 5 is breaking new ground for Hyundai with its innovative all-electric platform, sustainable and futuristic design, and impressively useful features. Although the IONIQ 5 won’t go on sale until this fall, its excellence has already been recognized with a Best Design honor at the TopGear Electric Awards 2021.
“The IONIQ 5 looks like an ’80s hot hatch that’s been beamed into the future,” raved Jack Rix, the editor of TopGear Magazine. The shape of the IONIQ 5 hints at the influence of the iconic Hyundai Pony, which debuted in 1975, and the more recent Hyundai 45 EV concept. Its clamshell hood, V-shaped bumper, extended wheelbase, and sharp 20-inch wheels set it apart from anything else on the road right now. Rix also singled out attention-grabbing exterior details like the solar roof, dot-matrix taillights, and stylish wheel arch design.
The interior of the IONIQ 5 is just as stunningly designed. Rix was especially enthusiastic about the twin 12.3-inch screens, movable center console, and front seats with versatile sliding and reclining features. Thanks to the design of the Electric-Global Modular Platform, the roomy interior has a flat floor that allows for a huge amount of flexibility in how the seats are arranged. The IONIQ 5 also boasts a cabin with seats, headliner, and other elements made from eco-friendly materials like plant-based yarn and recycled bottles.
Beyond its visionary design, the IONIQ 5 presents incredible all-electric capabilities. With a driving range of up to 300 miles, it can also charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 18 minutes or go 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds.* AWD models boast up to 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. The IONIQ 5 also comes with a highly practical Vehicle-to-Load, or V2L, feature. With V2L, you can use the IONIQ 5 to plug in and power household appliances, personal electronics, and much more while you’re on the go.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 will arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year. To find out how you can get behind the wheel of your own IONIQ 5, contact our sales staff here at Bert Ogden Hyundai in Harlingen, Texas.
