Talk to kids about Halloween safety

Talking to your children about Halloween safety is essential before sending them out in the neighborhood to trick-or-treat. If you aren't sure what your kids need to know, let Bert Ogden Hyundai help you. We recommend a few simple tips that will be easy for your children to remember.

Talk to your kids about staying in a neighborhood they know well and only going to homes that are well lit. Children should be taught to walk on sidewalks instead of in the road, and not to dart into the street. Teach your children to cross the road at well-marked intersections with crosswalks for pedestrians. Make sure your children are visible to drivers who pass by and add glow in the dark elements, such as masks or shoelaces, to their costumes. Glow tape is also readily available.

Naturally, younger children should never trick-or-treat without an adult present, and consider sending older kids with siblings or a group of friends.
